It finally happened, Hungarian railways started to sell international tickets online (MAV website), including discounted Spar tickets.
As of now interface is in Hungarian language only - https://jegyvasarlas.mav-start.hu/eTicketV2/Hogyan_vasarolhatok_i-Ticket.html
Tickets are sold to Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Romania and Slovakia. Enjoy

Full list of routes for which you can purchase tickets online can be found here - http://elvira.mav-start.hu/gyik.htm#jegyajanlataink

Both my cards (French Visa and Polish Electron) are seem to be not accepted.

After the window which says (all in Hungarian) "Fill the fields", I put the card number, CVV code and so on. I click "send", then I get the white screen saying "Sorry banking system is not available please try again later. And that's for the whole day.

There is no field to specify the card issuing country....

Did it work for someone?

Filip.

We actually heard that not all the tries and cards were successful with MAV system, but maybe it makes sense first of all to call your bank and ask about this specific transaction, so you would definitely known whether it's you bank might be blocking somehow the operation or it's fully responsibility of MAV with their system. If it is MAV, then probably your best chance will be just email them directly about the issue, they definitely will have more reliable answer than our guesses.
