North Korea:  The weekly through sleeping-cars every Friday from Moscow to Pyongyang attached to the Moscow-Beijing train will be discontinued as from 16 October.  However, it's reported that the twice-monthly Moscow-Pyongyang sleepers attached to the Moscow-Vladivostok 'Rossiya' and crossing direct from Russia into North Korea may be increased in frequency and opened up to western travellers (except US ones) as a result.

Is it really this info ? If yes when we can travel from Russia to North Koreea via Usurjisk-Khasan ?

Train fares and tariffs / TCV tickets in ROMANIA ?
« on: November 02, 2010, 10:22:00 am »
Mainly this scheme works for buying tickets in Eastern Europe (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, but Austria, Switzerland and Germany can as well sell TCV tickets) in order to use them in Western. Eastern European countries will issue this “tricky” tickets with a help of international TCV tariff (almost “forgotten” in Western Europe)

For buyng TCV tickets you written as Eastern Europe only Czech Republic Slovakia, Slovenia an Hungary. Can buy them in Romania too ?

Train fares and tariffs / Re: Fare Kiev Vladivostok

Question 1is - 2 peoples travel together Slovakia-Kiev -Moscow-Vladivostok // and Vladivostok-Moscow-Kiev-Slovakia is ONLY 201,6 Euro/per person /only tiket ???????
Yes, CityStar return ticket Slovakia-UZ-RZD>1500km cost 134 euro, second passenger pays 50%. But additionally you would need sleeper reservations (compulsory for UZ and RZD). For example, Bratislava-Kiev sleeper cost 24 euro, Kiev-Moscow from 18 euro in UZ carriages to 58 in RZD carriages, Moscow-Vladivostok - 230 euro etc. As you can see, ticket part itself cost less than sleeper.
As result, trip Bratislava-Kiev-Moscow-Vladivostok return for 2 passengers will cost 200 (ticket) + 24*4 (Bratislava-Kiev sleepers) + 18*4 (Kiev-Moscow sleepers)+ 230*4 (Moscow-Vladivostok sleepers)
****************************
Zilina-Moscow (Zilina it is the first train station from were run train to Moscow via Ukraine) reservation costs only 24 euro;
This Russia section has the mention that Zilina is the first train from were run the train to Moscow but the Timetable from Moscow to Slovakia inform about the direct train Moscow Bratislava !! It is realy ?

But there is a good trick to save some money. Main secret is in the use of foreign/international train tickets for domestic Russian routes. Best offers here from Slovakia, Serbia and Bulgaria. All this countries sell CityStar tickets to Russia. Here some numbers for the most popular Slovakia-Russia CityStar (via Ukraine): CityStar itself costs 134.4 euro (2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th person of a group travelling together pays additionally only 67,2 EUR or half out of basic price). So return ticket any station in Slovakia-Vladivostok- any station in Slovakia for two people costs only 201.6 euro. But you still need to buy sleeping car reservations (specific place in specific train).

Train fares and tariffs / Re: The cheapest way from Vladivostok to Hanoi
« on: October 06, 2010, 12:45:12 pm »
It is difficult to say precisely what would be the MPT tariff fare for such route (+ it depends on route you chose), but generally MPT tariff tend to be cheaper than domestic Chinese, especially when we are talking about such distances.
But the most obvious rail route via Grodekovo-Suifenhe has couple of problems - direct carriage Vladivostok-Harbin (runs on Mondays and Thursdays only) takes way to long (almost 20 hours just to get 200+km till the border and 40 hours till Harbin), so you might consider bus or plane as well.
I am a rail fan. No bus no plane. I am a retired man who want to use the train over all. Please tell me any info about a trip using the Baikal Amur Rail From Taischet to Sovetskaia Govan. Cheep trains.
Thanks.

Kiev-Vladivostok carriage runs every second day on even dates of the month, when the two uneven dates follow at the end/start of the month, then it runs on 28,30,1,3,8.
The fare is 6160 UAH (app. 560 EUR) for "kupe" (no platskartnyi on this route), but we would strongly advice you to take a look at other options, because, first of all, since it is interstate connection the fare is extremely high and, secondly, carriage passes territory of Kazakhstan (depending on you citizenship you might need additional visa).
On the contrary, cheapest ticket for "kupe" of "Rossiya" train #1 Moscow-Vladivostok starts from 8000 RUB only (app. 190 EUR)

190 EUR is the tiket and sleeper reservation KUPE 2/4 per person Moscow/Vladivostok or only the tiket
