Title: Budapest to Szombathely
Post by: martinidog on May 10, 2010, 02:17:18 am
Greetings, everyone.

I'm going to be attending some festival in Szombathely in July, and am currently looking at fares and schedules on the MAV-START website. One thing seems to bug me, though, and the website is reluctant in giving proper addresses for certain station (even doing a Google search didn't help). As for some locations/stops, it seems to have two choices: it stops in "Szombathely" or "Szombathely-Szőlős." To my understanding, "Szőlős" has to do with a street name; is that right? If that is the case, where is the other location stopping?

Alas, either this information is hiding from me, I'm inept at finding the proper address, or it's just not there. Can anyone help me out? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Szombathely-Szőlős is the second rail station within the boundaries of the town. It is located in the southern part of it (check out here http://www.vasutallomasok.hu/allomas.php?az=szbs or here http://wikimapia.org/12478595/hu/Szombathely-Sz%C5%91l%C5%91s-vas%C3%BAti-meg%C3%A1ll%C3%B3hely)
In order to get there you must change at Szombathely main station (Szombathely Vasútállomás) to any train going towards Szentgottard.
