Rasha, you have some very interesting info here. However, I could not find the connection Kiev (Harkov) - Vladivostok in UZ reservations tables you provided. Therefore, my question is: Is it possible to get somewhere the definite list of trains/direct sleeping cars in former CIS countries on which is possible to purchase reservations using East-West tariff?

For UZ interstate and domestic prices you can see here: http://zakon1.rada.gov.ua/cgi-bin/laws/main.cgi?nreg=z0806-08 (Ukrainian language only, add 20% to showed price on ukrainan website due to a taxes).

On this link at the table III. Вартість плацкарти в міжнародному сполученні  Схід-Захід
у спальних вагонах України ( в євро без ПДВ)
you see the prices in EUR for reservations per kilometer for UZ cars. You just have to add 20% because it is the price without VAT. You just then need to find out distance beetween stations which you can easily do at http://www.mza.ru/?exp=1.

There are reservation lists of RŽD (http://www.uic.org/IMG/pdf/rzd_2011_information_-_2.pdf) and BČ (http://www.uic.org/IMG/pdf/s_12.2010.pdf) and trains on those lists are certanly bookable, but in practice there are a lot of more bookable trains. UZ don't provide reservation lists, because their system is not connected to European EPA, but UZ reservations can be booked at DB via FAX.

So nowadays actual bargain can be only MPT with relatively cheap reservations, but here also certain limitations are present.

And using UZ, BČ and KZH cars on domestic Russian trips Citystar. There are some good news about using BČ cars because from the CIS states timetable change on late May trains 144/143 Brest - Novosibirsk - Brest and 64/63 Minsk - Irkutsk - Minsk will go via Moskva Kurskaya*Nizhny Novgorod. There's only problem because you cannot buy reservation for inland RŽD connection in BČ car via EPA or in Russia for East-West tariff. But you can buy for example Irkutsk - Orscha (first Belarus station), and leave the train in Moscow. You will pay 56 EUR for reservation Irkutsk - Orscha in BČ car instead of 156 EUR for reservation Irkutsk - Moskva in RŽD car. But question is what will happen in opposite direction if you have reservation Orscha - Irkutsk and you want to board the train in Moscow. Reservations for UZ cars cannot be bought via EPA (exept from Mocow to Ukraine), but can be bought via fax reservation at DB, but requires few days to be confirmed. That way inland RŽD connections in UZ cars are available (but sometimes declined, there's no real rule), and also since there is East-West reservations tariff table for plackartniy, 3rd class it should be also available. That way, for example reservations Harkov - Vladivostok in platskartniy will be only 46 EUR, or Kiev - Vladivostok in kupe 85 EUR.

Recently i found tariff tables for sleeping car reservations of BČ, RŽD and UZ. It is for the year 2010, but in 2011 prices remain same. Here it is:

BČ: http://dijszabas.uw.hu/dijszabas/download.php?fname=./Feheroroszorszag_BC/BC%20halokocsiarak.xls
RŽD: http://dijszabas.uw.hu/dijszabas/download.php?fname=./Oroszorszag_RZD/RZD%20h%E1l%F3kocsi%E1rak%202010.xls
UZ: http://dijszabas.uw.hu/dijszabas/download.php?fname=./Ukrajna_UZ/ukran%20halokocsiarak.xls

RŽD table shows international, interstate (exSSSR) and domestic prices, BČ and UZ show only international (BČ not complete). For UZ interstate and domestic prices you can see here: http://zakon1.rada.gov.ua/cgi-bin/laws/main.cgi?nreg=z0806-08 (Ukrainian language only, add 20% to showed price on ukrainan website due to a taxes).

Train fares and tariffs / Re: Berlin/Gdynia - Kaliningrad
« on: January 31, 2011, 02:18:17 am »
As far as we can see, the carriage is shown for summer 2011 only on PKP website, but no info about it from DB or RZD. Hmmm...

It's shown also here, on DB reservation list, page 52:

http://www.uic.org/IMG/pdf/reservierungsubersicht_der_db_ag_2010_2011_stand_18.01.2011_.pdf

Carriage Kaliningrad-Berlin doesn't run via Gdansk since 2009, last summer it was reattached in Tczew, thus you can't purchase T3 for leg Kaliningrad - Gdansk.

Yes, but last summer there was train 7/8 Gdynia - Kaliningrad, with two seating coaches Gdynia - Braniewo, sleeping car Gdynia - Kaliningrad, and sleeping car Berlin - Kaliningrad attached in Tczew. So, Berlin - Kaliningrad car isn't going via Gdansk, but Gdynia - Kaliningrad is. That train is also shown for this summer on PKP timetable. You can see it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRYrlqeaMKs

Train fares and tariffs / Berlin/Gdynia - Kaliningrad
« on: January 30, 2011, 04:23:32 pm »
Between Gdynia and Kaliningrad there is train with direct car Berlin - Kaliningrad, running from late May till early October. I'm planning a tour of Poland, and now I'm considering adding Berlin and Kaliningrad to the tour. So I will buy return ticket Bratislava - Hel with outward route via <1156>Kuty(Gr)<1154>Brno*Ceska Trebova*Letohrad*Lichkov(Gr)<1251>Wroclaw*Poznan*Tczew*Gdynia Gl, and return route via <1251>Gdynia Gl.*Dzialdowo*Warszawa*Idzikowice*Krakow*Trzebinia*Oswiecim*Zebrzydowice(Gr)<1154>Bohumin*Prerov*(Hodonin/Brno)*Breclav*Kuty(Gr)<1156>. According to Jizdenka that ticket should cost 84 EUR.

So according to this I plan to go first to Wroclaw, and then to Poznan, from were I'll go to Berlin with 19 EUR discounted ticket. Then I plan to use Berlin - Kaliningrad sleeper. Since I already have ticket for Poznan - Tczew  part (ticket Bratislava - Hell) I'll need to buy Berlin - Poznan and Tczew - Kaliningrad tickets only and Berlin - Kaliningrad reservation. Then I plan to go from Kaliningrad to Gdansk, for which I will use Kaliningrad - Tczew ticket, and then from Tczew to Gdansk continue using my Bratislava - Hel ticket.

So I need information how much is the cost of:

1) Berlin - Poznan standard fare ticket (TCV) (is there youth, or RailPlus discount?)
2) Tczew - Kaliningrad return ticket
3) T3 reservation Berlin - Kaliningrad
4) T3 reservation Kaliningrad - Gdansk

Thank you!  :)

Train fares and tariffs / Re: Train Oradea Wien

You can also buy Wien - Budapest discounted one-way ticket on MAV website (http://www.mav-start.hu/eticket/nemzetkozi_e_ticket.php) for 13 EUR instead on OeBB website for 19 EUR.

Hm, one weird thing I ran on: last January ZSSK told me in an e-mail that Citystar to Russia is valid 2 months, but now, they said it's only one month. It wouldn't be weird if just that, but according to this (http://doc.rzd.ru/isvp/public/doc?STRUCTURE_ID=389&layer_id=3368&refererLayerId=3339&id=3954#4810) ticket validity should be 2 months becouse Slovakiа signed that agreement.

53
Yes, basically transit line on that small part of northern Kazakhstan belongs to RZD, but, nevertheless, all the tickets bought there is payed in tenge and you'll have full scale border crossing, not 'green corridor'.
Yes, I know that it's full scale border crossing. But good news for me is that recently Kazakhstan and Serbia signed agreemen about visa free regime, and in few months it will go into effect. So no problems about that for me.

Recently I looked on this map (http://www.parovoz.com/maps/supermap/supermap.png), and noticed that Petropavlovsk (Kazakhstan) and the whole route from Cheliabinsk to Omsk via Petropavlovsk belongs to South-Ural railway, which is part of RŽD. After that I had a look on Jizdenka, and Petropavlovsk is shown as Petropavlovsk [27] and Petropavlovsk [20], so it means that station belongs to both RŽD and KTŽ, something like Salzburg to DB and OeBB. Also, on Jizdenka, direct route between Cheliabinsk and Omsk which goes via Petropavlovsk is shown as Russian, so I thought that ŽSSK can issue ticket via that route. The only problem was that route from Topoli (Gr) to Ufa via Penza on which Kiev - Vladivostok and Dnipropetrovsk - Vladisvostok cars go isn't shown neither on jizdenka or wasteels.ro sites. It only showes routes from Topoli (Gr) to Ufa via Saratov. Next I did, I sent an e-mail to ŽSSK, and they answered that route Topoli (Gr) - Penza - Samara - Ufa - Cheliabinsk - Petropavlovsk - Omsk is possible for City Star ticket. So it means ŽSSK has it in their computer (or tariff book).

And I asked on MŽA forum about price of Kiev - Vladivostok T4 reservation - it's 70,83 CHF + VAT if bought in Ukraine (20%). Because it's defined in CHF, not EUR it means that for UZ cars, it's same price for MPGT and Vostok-Zapad. Do you know maybe is the Kiev - Vladivostok car reservable from Europe? Is it in EPA reservation system? It should be train 350LJ, which is shown in Hafas.

Also, the price for City Star SK-RUS changed a little bit. Via Ukraine it's now cheaper, 84 EUR till 1500km in Russia, and 120 EUR up 1500km in Russia. Via Poland and Belarus it's more expensive - 197,2 EUR till 1500km in Russia and 233,2 EUR up 1500km in Russia.

55
I meantime I found this:
http://forum.railwayclub.info/index.php?topic=21255.msg229149#msg229149
It says that domestic UZ reservation for East-West tariff will be same as for domestic tickets (why RZD is not like UZ ? >:(). But it's not clear what will be with reservations from Ukraine to Russia, and other former USSR states. It also says that CityStar to Slovakia will be 30% cheaper! (hm, only from Ukraine, or also for Russia?).

When you get some new information, please post it here. Thank you!

Train fares and tariffs / City Star Russia and reservations
« on: December 04, 2010, 07:07:33 pm »
http://www.uic.org/IMG/pdf/rzd_2011_information_from_12_12_10.pdf

I found here that there is going to be a direct sleeping car Irkutsk - Warszawa in summer 2011. Do you have any information about how much will be the reservation cost for this car? And, are there going to be some changes in price from the timetable change on December 12th of CityStar ticket Slovakia - Russia (both via UŽ and PKP-BČ), and in sleeper reservations including ŽSSK-UŽ, ŽSSK-UŽ-RŽD, PKP-BČ-RŽD, UŽ-RŽD and RŽD domestic?

Can I use Switzerland (SBB) FIP coupon for Chur - Tirano route? That route belongs to RhB, not SBB.

So, for platskart, the price is same during whole year? Will the prices remain same as in 2010?
