Train fares and tariffs / Singapore to Kuala Lumpur
« on: July 03, 2014, 10:32:19 am »
Hi,

Do you have any advice on travelling from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur.
All I have found out is you must start at Woodlands in Singapore and it is cheaper to buy on the Malaysian website.  But I am not able.

Thanks

OK.  Just when I thought I was doing OK.
This is what we are trying to achieve departing Paris anywhere between 0800-1000 to arrive in Lourdes between 1400-1700 approx.
So if I have it correct we can get the 7h28  IDTVG2967 or 7h28 TVG8531 departing same place going to same place but different trains or theTVG8533 at 1028 then get off at Bayonne & having brought  travel onto Lourdes.  How do you know what time the train gets into Bayonne to buy the leg to Lourdes and how much time would you need to transfer.

If you have a better suggestion we are very open to it.

I think I'm beginning to like Italian rail.

One last question is there any way to change your seats I not sure I got it right when I brought another ticket

Thanks heaps

Hi,
I have followed your advise (Thank You) re booking tickets Paris to Lourdes 26th Aug but there only appears to be only 4 trains.  Previously when I've check there was a train departing at 1028 (TGV8573).
Also  www.tgv-europe.com takes you to en.voyages-snfc or am I doing that wrong.

Can you please help

Hi
Just been checking the TVG website and noticed the date we want to travel in Aug (29th) now show 1 train (Bayonne to Paris.). However has a message
In 'no booking' trains, seats are unreserved.
and only one train is listed departing at 10h28 for 79.80euro.  I am assuming this is for 2 passengers.  How do I know if this is a discounted seat.  Should I book it.
Please advise thanks

You know you are a real gem.  We have finished our plan.
Leave Amsterdam on sunday 25 Aug for Paris.  Overnight in Paris before heading to Lourdes on the Monday.  Have read a lot of your info I got  a little confused when reading about international tickets that allowed stopovers in the price of the ticket but I dont think that applies to our destinations.  Two nights in Lourdes then departing on Wed 28th to Bayonne overnight then to Paris on 29th August.
The other trips decided to do as day trips from Paris one to Tour and another to Dijon and possibly Rouen.
With these day trips I suppose it depends on th price whether we book in advance if the TVG or Intercity is cheaper that TER,
Thanks we would not ever travel by train in europe without consulting

Hi,

We want to use the trains to train around France and while the TVG site is great  it doesnt seem to show any local trains.  Is there another web site that we should be looking at. Or maybe I'm not finding the right section.
We are wanting to do something like paris to lourdes then on to Bayonne then maybe another mid way stop before going back to paris or maybe it is better to go direct from Bayonne to paris and then start again from Paris.

Thanks for you help :)

Train fares and tariffs / Amsterdam to Paris the Paris/Lourdes/Paris
« on: February 03, 2013, 02:02:13 am »
Hi,

Can you please advise the best options - cheapest, when & how to do the following

Amsterdam to Paris on Sun 25th Aug or Mon 26th Aug not sure which is the better day.  Departure during the day.  Not sure how long the journey is. Not sure which station in PAris the train arrives at.

then spend one night in Paris - assuming it all can not be done in a day.

Paris to Lourdes Mon 26th Aug or Tue 27th (depending on which option above).  Again not sure of departing station or travel time

returning from Lourdes Thr 27th or Fri 28th Aug (depending on above options)

Are indivudal tickets the cheapest or pass.

Really appreciate you help :)
Thanks

Thanks.
Is it possible that even 1st class onthe IC train is a compartment.  We difinately do not want to travel that way.  As we are staying in via Borgo Allegri and travelling with bags we will have to weigh up the "difficult" options.
If we decide to book the 9419 Frecciargento is it possible to pick exact seats on this train?  We wlould then only train 2nd class but the info around advises not much diffenert for 1st class.

Appreciate your advise andthe express reply.  Really great

Hi,
We will  be doing this trip in May.  Departing from Mestre (because our hotel this there).  Looking on the ticket site IC585 depts Mestre but arrives in Firenze Rifredi where is this station.  We were looking at this train because we are not in a hurry and
was half the fare (mini 1st class).
Also when booking the tickets is there any way to determine or request an exact seat eg facing the way the train is travelling.  There will be two of us so will they automatically allocate an alise and window.

Thanks for you help. :)

Thanks heaps  :)Appears we were on the right track..ha ha.
We were confused about Venice because we were told the train left from Mestre and we were going to stay near the station there.
Keep up the good work.

Hi
We will be doing the following trip
6 May 12 Venice - Florence
10 May 12 Florence - Naples
13 May 12 Naples - Rome

Our questions are
1. What are the best options?
We have read about advance purchase but not sure how far in advance we can buy the tickets.  We are locked in for dates and dont want to have to worry about buying tickets as we go.  Would much rather sightsee.
2.  What stations do the trains depart from?
Looking at different web sites the trains seem to depart from  different stations in each city.  Hope that makes sense.
In Venice, Florence & Naples we are trying to find accommodation near the station from where the train leaves.  We dont want to be draging bags around.

As two 50plus ladies we appreciate your help.
Thanks

Train fares and tariffs / Re: Buying SparSchiene Croatia tickets
« on: June 07, 2010, 12:29:20 pm »
You know you are a great help.  Thanks heaps.

I did email them back and advised again that I was after SparSchiene tickets.  They replied that SparSchiene tickets were not on offer for the train I wanted to travel on.  The IC285 departing 0703 on 5 Sept.
Is this possible I thought the tickets were available on all trains.

Thanks

Hi Folks,

I have followed all the advice re buying the SparSchiene tickets ie emailed them well in advance of the 92 day advance purchase date but have been advise that the far is Euro50.70 plus a reservation fee of Euro3.50 per ticket.

Can anyone confirm the actual price of Vienna to Zagreb?

And then I've been advised that there are no tickets left.

Sounds a bit strange to me as the OBB ticket office had all our details well before the tickets went on sale.

Can anyone shed some light.

Thanks
