Title: Vienna-Innsbruck
Post by: MikeK on August 23, 2009, 03:31:27 pm
Hi, I was wondering how to save some money on Vienna-Innsbruck journey. I'm on budget, while Austrian Railways say fare is 58 euro (imho, pretty expensive for 5 hour trip). Thank you

There are two possible options for you to consider for the journey from Vienna to Innsbruck in less than 58 euro (regular fare):
1) Purchase in advance discounted Spar ticket Vienna-Zurich (as low as 29 euro) - https://ticket.oebb.at/bin/frame_ticket.pl?ticket=jticket.pl?ABBFSEL=8100003&ANBFSEL=8503000&LANG=EN and simply get off the train earlier in Innsbruck
2) In case you can't purchase Spar ticket, you might take advantage of Einfach-Raus-Ticket (see our "Austria" page for more details). Your journey will take longer than usual since you can not travel on Austrian InterCity trains, but on the contrary you will only pay 28 euro for the whole trip
