  Another quick question:

So I know there are several trains that I can take from Munich to Füssen to see the castle and lake and maybe stroll over to Austria.  I see the Laender pass (Bayern-Ticket) on Bahn is showing as 23€ after 9am (until 3am).  So that of course allows me unlimited travel on all the trains and S-Bahn in Bavaria it seems (for a Wednesday) I believe.

Now I looked on Bahn's site and was curious about trains that left before 9am (so I could get down there earlier) and it seems there are some and that I can get a Bayern-Ticket (return Journey) for 48.50€.  So I am confused about this since I thought the Bayern is only good after 9am.

I'm just trying to see what the cost would be if I left on a earlier train before 9am.  Or if it's just really worth it to just get the Bayern ticket for 23€ and leave after 9am instead and spent less time down there?

Thanks again...

Ok thanks.  That's what I had figured, but wanted to double check first just to get an advance idea of planing.  Otherwise I would have just gone to the train station the day before to just double check, but this makes planning a lot easier beforehand.  Thanks...

Travel plans, routes and timetables / Wrocław to Rogoźnica Question
« on: April 14, 2014, 08:25:40 pm »
So trying to get a train from Wrocław to Rogoźnica  in the morning and then back in the afternoon at some point.  My question is on Bahn's website, I'm seeing different times and durations than what rozklad.pkp.pl is showing.

Which should be the most accurate?

From Bahn's I'm seeing a Wed morning departure at 5:09 and arriving at 6:39.  Rozklad shows the times being 5:45 and arriving at 7:41.  Which is a bit of a difference.  However in the afternoon Bahn and Rozklad seem to have about the same times.  So just curious which would be more reliable to use for times?

Sounds a bit risky as even if the website shows you can get the tickets online with out that stamp issue for trains to Germany, the conductors themselves my not know that yet and it might be hard to explain that.

So will check closer and see what happens, if not though I can just get the bus ticket as I won't have that issue and I'm sure same day tickets or 2 days in advance train tickets to Prague will probably be expensive without any discounts getting them at the station...

Ok I'll check more on the Alx trains closer to the date when they get updated on https://www.cd.cz/eshop/ as right now they don't go out as far as May.  Looking at similar travel times on Saturdays in Feb look like they are running about 26€ for the direct train.  So will just need to check back when they have May up and I'll see if I will do that or do the Eurolines.

The early train would be the best if I can get it as the earliest Euroline arrives at noon...

So if I were to take the train from Munich to Prague then, what is the price range for that?  Also will I have to change trains in either Nürnberg or Plzen?  So far all I'm seeing is a combination of the train and bus changing in Nürnberg.

Great thanks for the advice and I will check into all those options.

Only reason I mention buses on here is because TuT has in the past recommended them to me in both Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Romania and Bulgaria as being better options than the train.  Plus all the ones I've been on had free WiFi and were really comfortable (more so that the trains I've been on).

But in the end, I'm up for using either the train or the bus, which ever gets me there with the least amount of hassle and for the best price and best times.

Ok getting things set up here for my next trip in May and need some advice.

Munich - Prague (Saturday)
I was hearing that there is a bus that is pretty direct that is a lot quicker than taking the train.  I am just curious how long and how much the train is compared to the bus.  I would like to leave early on that Sat to get to Prague as early as I can.

Prague - Wrocław
Seems www.cd.cz isn't showing me any possible trains for leaving on a Tues morning between these two cities.  Am I missing something? Another site I saw the price was horrible (2,806 kr) which seems way to crazy to be correct.  Also http://www.intercity.pl/ is not showing any direct trains at all and need to change in Katowice which I don't want to do.

I found one bus http://jizdnirady.idnes.cz/vlakyautobusymhdvse/spojeni/, but I can't seem to view the prices.

I did notice for about $10 US a bus from http://www.polskibus.com/.  Thinking that might be the best way to go.

Wrocław-Berlin
Don't know about buses, but do see on http://www.intercity.pl/ there are trains.  Though I'm not able to view the pricing of that.  Maybe there is a bus as well?  http://www.polskibus.com/ doesn't seem to have a connection between these two cities however, so not sure if there is another bus option at all.

Thanks once again for your help, you've always made my travels so much easier...

Seems I wasn't getting the proper page using the English on the www.cfr.ro (then train schedual).  It has the same layout as the http://cfrcalatori.ro/ , but wouldn't work.  Your link did so perfect.

Thanks again and now I can decide on if the buses or trains will be better with some of these trips...

Travel plans, routes and timetables / Bucharest - Brasov (and beyond)
« on: March 29, 2013, 06:46:38 pm »
Talked to you earlier about my trip.  I've gotten the bus scheduals easily enough from autogari.ro, but I'm having a hard time trying to get the train scheduels from  http://www.infofer.ro/ (from www.cfr.ro) as it keeps giving me errors.  So I must be doing something wrong.  I could look at www.bahn.de, but didn't know if they would list all the trains or not.

Anyways trying to find the following trains:

Bucureşti (Bucharest) - Braşov (Sat departure - think they should be the same train every Sat)
Braşov - Făgăraş (round trip for a daytrip) (Mon-Wed)
Braşov - Sighişoara (round trip for a daytrip) (Mon-Wed)
Braşov - Sinaia (round trip for a daytrip) (Mon-Wed)
Braşov - Bucureşti (On a Thursday)

If you can figure out how to work that train website or know if bahn.de would have all the same exact details that would be great.  Just wanted to know the times etc compared to the buses from autogari.ro so I know what would be the best way.

Thanks again...

Yes I looked at that site yesterday, but like you said, wasn't able to really see much for May.  Luckily I can understand Bulgarian enough to figure out the page.  I will keep checking closer and see what comes up.  I'll also go to the other bus station (the private one) when I arrive or the day after and check with them as well.  Hopefully I can find my way back to Romania. Thanks again...

Ok update on Varna to Constanta.  I have found Sud Mecado has a lot of buses From Constanta - Varna.  But they do not show any from Varna - Constanta on my return.

So any idea on where to look for a bus back to Constanta from either Golden Sands (where I'll be) or Varna?

Yes it appears there is a lot more options from what the autogari.ro shows.  info@romaniatourism.com just emailed me and said that website is only a portal and that it doesn't show many of the buses.

So they are going to give me all the details from Brasov to neighboring areas and double check on the Constanta - Varna bus (since it's before the main tourist season).

Thanks again for your help as I head back once again to East Europe...

Yes I signed up for the CFR.  Looks like to make the rest of the trip a little more simple.  I figured I'll just base 5 days out of Brasov and then rely on the bus/train to take side trips to the castles.  Looks like it would be easier to skip Sibiu and just go to the castle between there and Brasov instead and then a day trip to Sighsoara and a few other castles instead.

So with that, I guess autogari.ro and cfr.ro or bahn.de will be the best sites for all bus and rail travel around Brasov and Bucharest.

Ok did a bit more research and think I can do all the cities (minus Ruse).  Since I arrive in Bucharest around 17:00 (hoping no delays).  I should be able to take the metro to the Nord train station I think and catch the 20:00 train to Constanta.  Then just spend the night there an take a bus to Varna the next morning.

So I emailed Autogari, but didn't really get anything useful back from them about Mid-May buses between Constanta and Varna.  So right now that would be my only delima is getting to Varna and then back to Constanta 2 days later.  After that everything else should be straight forward through Romania using the trains and being able to hit Braşov/Sibiu/Sighişoara and end with a weekend in Bucharest.

So I guess I just need to wait and hope that Autogari is accurate on their sites.

Another questions is on the Bahn.de website, it's showing the train between Bucharest and Constanta is "subject to compulsory reservation".  Does that mean I need to pre-book that well in advance or is that just saying I can get the ticket at the station, but I can't get the ticket on board the train?
