Our plans have changed a bit since reserving a sleeper cabin on the CNL Night Train. We booked from Freiburg through Karlsruhe to Prague. We'd really like to just board further on at Karlsruhe now. It's about an hour into the originally booked trip. I was willing to cancel the original ticket and rebook new, but there aren't any more sleepers available and I don't want to lose what we have booked. Will we lose that reservation if we're not onboard in Freiburg?

No, travel documents are valid for the entire route printed in the ticket/reservation, so it doesn't matter whether you intend to use it for the whole route or only some parts of it, you've payed for the whole route. So we don't see any problem boarding CNL 459 in Karlsruhe instead of Freiburg. And if you email CNL (http://www.citynightline.de/citynightline/view/en/kontakt/kontakt_en.shtml) directly, they should confirm it.
