If I go in opposite way, Bucharest to Chernivtsy, what kind of reasonable options would I have?

Depends on what you mean by "reasonable"? Train #60 Sofia-Bucharest-Kyiv-Moscow is the only one running on the line from Suceava t Chernivtsi, so if you want to travel by train, then it's the only choice. Ticket+T4 reservation Bucharest-Chernivtsi is roughly 40 euro, ticket+T4 reservation Suceava-Chernivtsi is roughly 12 euro. Ticket price Bucharest to Suceava for Romanian trains is from 85 RON
Also there suppose to be Ukrainian bus from Suceava to Chernivtsi departing everyday at 13, however it's a bit tricky bus, since time to time it is canceled and nothing runs across the border, then it again starts, so it's not very reliable option (unless you can confirm at Suceava that it will definitely run the day you want to travel)
