Travel plans, routes and timetables / Athens ----> Prague

Hi guys!
I am planning to be in Prague in a week (meeting a friend there) and would like to make it there in the cheapest way possible.... I will not be sightseeing on the way and I don't mind travelling via train/bus.
So, is taking a train and bus combination comparable to a plane ticket cost-wise? I found a one-way to Prague for ~180 Euros... Is it close to what it would cost to travel via bus/train?
We are planning on coming back through Austria/Slovenia/Croatia/Serbia/Bulgaria. Should I book in advance to save money or does it really matter?
