Option a) takes 27h 30m
27? Probably you meant 37?
Yes, I mixed up a) & b)

option a) takes 37.5 hours , option b) takes 27.5

I am also thinking about option to travel Galati (Iassy) - Bucuresti - Craiova - Calafat with cheapest trains and then to find some other options in Serbia (I am going to Uzica really, not to Belgrade). Does it make sense in your opinion?

I could travel via Chop, but it is the same kind of way 3rd time, I feel like trying something different.. And not for fortune at the same time.. May be there are some cheap buses/minibuses in Romania to save some penny?

I have just checked first 2 options, both cost about the same in total (assuming traveling nights on C6 couchettes or platskart) = 60-65 EUR

Option a) takes 27h 30m
Option b) takes 36h 30m

With Option c) it looks reasonable to catch train from Iassy to Timisoara (35 EUR for C6 in the night train), but it is not very clear how to be in Iassy on time and make it in convenient way. How to get from Timisoara to Belgrade is also not very clear, when it is not right time for trains. Not sure if there are buses on the route.

If I would be him, I just simply slept in the airport.

There is even a special website for that:

But I am not a worried mother though )

All other train travel questions / Re: Train Schemes

Thanks, tUt!! As always, here is a place where you get all the info needed ;)

About schemes of the trains - it is typical for today, that each railway shows only their carriages. Good to know, that this feature is at least available for most of internet sites of European railways..

It is rather general question. From time to time it is handy to have scheme of the train.
Not sure if I could see Hungarian carriages (Chop - Zahony and Zahony - Budapest) on 015 Moscow to Budapest train. Could be handy.
Although today I can see via mza.ru only carriages Moscow to Uzhgorod on this train! Which kills any functionality for any international trains.

I also tried to find information about train 144D Donetsk to St.Petersburg.
Mza.ru shows only 2 cars from Orel to St.Petersburg, not saying anything about main part of the train (Donetsk group of cars)

I found all that a bit annoying and wanted to find some other way to access such information.

I didn't use mza.ru for a few months and founded that "scheme of the train" feature was changed in a bad way. It didn't show any carriages, which are not RZD ones anymore.

Can this information be still found somewhere else?

If I go in opposite way, Bucharest to Chernivtsy, what kind of reasonable options would I have?

Bucuresti-Zagreb: b) go via Serbia, thus catch overnight train Bucuresti-Belgrade (around 30 EUR for one-way ticket),
Is this still correct? Someone told me that one of the trains like this is canceled. Not sure is it this train or not though...

I have similar route, Belgrade to Odessa; wondering if the way (which make sense in terms of time/money) Belgrade to Odessa will be via Chop as well.
Or there is better options via Romania?

Train fares and tariffs / Re: How to buy train tickets in internet?
« on: May 30, 2012, 11:34:04 pm »
Thank you so much for your answer, tUt.

The initial reason for my question was my friend's trip, which she is making tomorrow from Venice to Belgrade. The best I could find was the night train from Ljubljana to Belgrade. (2 changes within 17 hours from Venice to Belgrade didn't impress me)

I tried to buy that ticket online with sz website www.slo-zeleznice.si
I didn't figure out how to do it online.

Website of Serbian Railway doesn't give any price for such a trip neither.

I thought some ppl know the trick about such things )

Myself, I gonna travel in Europe next year.

I used to believe it is cheaper by train from Moscow to Belgrade, but after checking airfares it doesn't look that I could save much by train.

Still interested about travel between Cz or Viena and Belgrade...

Train fares and tariffs / How to buy train tickets in internet?
« on: May 30, 2012, 04:18:45 am »
Hello!

My question is about how to buy train tickets in Europe through internet?
I know only about Russia and Ukraine, but not sure about any other countries.

I know, my question is a bit naive, but who knows may be it is already some service where I could buy any ticket all around EU?

I am especially interested in finding place to buy tickets from one European country to another.

Thanks.
