I ve recently made a booking with a hotel in St-Petersburg, but it seems drgaging its feet with sending me the official invitation which I need to include in my visa application.

Does anyone know a good, cheap, diligent invitation provider?

Thx a lot for any tip ;-)

This depends on the dates on your visa. In most cases the hotel will issue an invitation for the dates that you will be staying at the hotel and then the Consulate will give you a visa for those dates. If that is the case, then by staying an extra day you will be breaking the law and may be banned from coming back to Russia for 10 years. To avoid this problem it is best that you go though a travel agency and get them to help you with your visa. If you are in the United States I would recommend the services of Russian Connections, you can tell them when you want to enter and leave Russia and can stay the extra day in Moscow without any problem.
