Discounts, special offers & ways to save money for passengers traveling by trains in Croatia (HZ):

  1. Passengers purchasing return tickets (trips >25 km) in Croatia receive 20% discount from the standard ticket fare
  2. Passengers holding ISIC cards receive 25% discount for domestic one-way or return tickets
  3. HZ from March 1, 2016 till May 31, 2016 offers a promo fare (50% discount from standard price) for journeys on line Zagreb-Rijeka/Rijeka-Zagreb (55,60 HRK) & Zagreb-Split/Split-Zagreb (98,50 HKR), discounted tickets can't be returned or exchanged.
  4. Another simple and relatively easy way to save on rail travel in Croatia is to avoid expensive ICN and IC trains, while instead give preference to cheaper (although a bit slower) Fast and Passenger trains.
  5. Passengers planning to visit more than one destination in Croatia (e.g. day trip) can take advantage of the fact that Croatian Railways allow one stopover for any domestic journey done with one-way ticket or two stopovers with any return ticket (one stopover during outward & one during return trip). It means that passenger holding ticket from destination A to destination C can travel from A to C with stopover in destination B, thus instead of two separate tickets purchase one through ticket and, as result, save money thanks to regressive nature of HZ domestic tariff.
