Rail Travel in Europe

Traveling without any doubts considered as one of the most preferable ways to spend your spare time (holidays, weekends etc.). If we ‘dig’ even deeper, we can actually say, that everyone around, including us themselves, actually travels all the time - somebody only from home to work, others while watching Discovery channel, some, on a contrast, ready to pack their backpacks in a moment and start stunning and bizarre long lasting trip to the other end of a country/continent/world. That’s how it goes…

But without any difference all the travelers are concerned with background circumstances of their travels – information about what will be the cheapest and most reliable way to get form point A to point B, what is the most time consuming or efficient, picturesque or save route.

Search for such answers can be sometimes really difficult and takes time, but we can’t avoid this search if we want our trip to succeed. That is the reason why our team of railway fans created EuropeTrainsGuide.com website. Our primary goal is to share our own experience and knowledge about railway (and not only) systems in Europe. We ourselves in most cases already gone through all the preparations for our own trips – we earned invaluable experience, we worked out routes and find out cheapest ways of travel in every region of Europe.

So this website actually gathers precise information about rail travel in every European country and on the bases of it advices you some interesting ways to travel and save your money.

Starting from general tips for rail travel in different regions of Europe (see section on Western and Eastern Europe, Russia and other Post Soviet countries) we go to exact data and info which concerns certain European countries in particular (see our ”Countries” section). All this simplifies search of information for you. In addition website has travel forum where you can clarify and discuss all the info, ask question and share your own experience.

Our team does not pretend to know everything about everything in European rail travel, especially due to huge amount of info and changes of it in different countries. So we will appreciate any correction and updates from your side too. By doing it you will help other fellow travelers.
